A $31,800 grant from Community Shop Rockport is helping strengthen emergency response capabilities and improve safety for first responders and the community.
The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department is putting its 2026 Community Shop Rockport grant to work with the purchase of two complete sets of Super X Rescue Jacks, specialized equipment used to stabilize vehicles during emergency rescue operations.
The $31,800 investment enhances the department's ability to safely respond to vehicle accidents and other emergencies where vehicle stabilization is necessary. Having reliable rescue equipment is essential to protecting both emergency personnel and individuals involved in these incidents.
Rockport Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jamie McAlister expressed appreciation for the Community Shop's support, noting that the grant has strengthened the department's vehicle stabilization capabilities. The department also recognized Slickwater LLC for its continued support and work customizing equipment to meet the demands of emergency operations.
Community Giving at Work
This grant is one example of how Community Shop Rockport turns local generosity into meaningful investments throughout Aransas County. Through its annual grant program, the Community Shop provides funding to nonprofit organizations delivering valuable services and community outreach.
Every donation, purchase, and contribution to the Community Shop helps make these grants possible. Items donated to the thrift store are given a second life, and the proceeds help fund programs, equipment, and services that benefit our neighbors and strengthen our community.
The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department's new rescue equipment is a tangible example of what happens when a community comes together to support the organizations working to keep it safe.
